5 Inspiring Young Girls Changing the World

March 4, 2025

The world is full of young girls with big ideas. They see problems and want to make a difference. At The Decided Collection, we believe preteen and teen girls have the power to make a real impact. That’s why we’re shining a light on five amazing young women who are changing the world in their own way. From fighting climate change to creating life-changing technology, these girls prove that age does not matter when it comes to making a difference.

  1. Avery, Altadena Girls – Helping Those Affected by California Wildfires

When the wildfires hit southern California and destroyed communities, Avery stepped in immediately and founded Altadena Girls. They focus on restoring normalcy for teenage victims and their families by providing clothing, toiletries, and more. Their message is simple— small acts of kindness can make a big impact.

  1. Mari Copeny – Tackling America’s Water Crisis

Better known as “Little Miss Flint,” Mari has been fighting for clean water since she was 8. She’s worked to bring attention to the Flint, Michigan water crisis and continues to push for clean, safe water for all. Mari proves that you’re never too young to stand up for what’s right.

  1. Xiye Bastida – Leading the Fight for Climate Justice

Xiye is a Mexican climate activist who is all about protecting the planet for future generations. She’s a speaker, organizer, and advocate pushing world leaders to take action on climate change. Her work is a reminder that we all have a role in protecting the Earth.

  1. Gitanjali Rao – Innovating for a Better Future

A scientist, inventor, and author, Gitanjali uses STEM to tackle big issues like water contamination and cyberbullying. She was named Time’s first-ever Kid of the Year. Gitanjali is an inspiration to other young minds—to think big and use technology to solve real-world problems.

  1. Trisha Prabhu – Stopping Online Hate Before It Starts

Trisha saw a problem with cyberbullying and did something about it. She created ReThink, a technology that detects harmful language before it’s sent, giving users a chance to pause and reconsider. Her work is making the internet a kinder place for everyone, especially preteen girls that are facing some of the most challenging years of their lives.

These young girls making a difference show us that passion and determination can make a significant impact. At The Decided Collection, we believe every girl has the power to make a difference—whether in her community, her school, or the world. So, what’s your next big idea? We can’t wait to see how you make a difference!
